PCT Day 10 - 100 Miles!

Today was just what the doctor ordered. We had a hard day yesterday with the sun and heat all day long with the miles that seemed to never pass. We were up at 5:20am today and left camp by 6:02am. Our first goal was to resupply on water from a cache a mile up the trail and rehydrate as neither of us had drank enough the day before. With full water bottles and 1.5 liters in my belly, we set out sights on the trail.

We quickly trailed deeper into the mountain chain and lost the monotonous view of the valley which persisted all the prior day. The distance to Warner Springs is 19 miles and will be a steady decline the rest of the way. Mile after mile we hiked in the early morning, the temperatures remained modest and the sun even though it was shinning bright, felt much less intense today.

Before noon we had gone 11.5 miles, our personal best by far! AND we reached our second milestone! 100 miles!

We were going to do 15 total miles today but when we arrived at the last water stop we were met with more Trail Magic. We filtered water, ate lunch, and the indulged in M&M's, bananas, ice tea, coffee, beef jerky, and bubble gum.

The gentlemen who provided the goodies are from San Diego County, and like to provide trail magic because they enjoy talking to thru hikers and hearing our stories. We sat with them a few hours and just relaxed from the heat of the day.

Our plan tomorrow is to wake up at 3:30am and hike 5 miles to Eagle Rock for a Sunrise Special.
