PCT Day 13 - Mary's Place

Low on sleep and last nights non-sense fresh in my mind, we set off from Mike's with the goal of 19 miles. This will be a total of 37 miles for two days, by far our highest total yet! Our joints are feeling weak and our feet ache, yesterday was a hard day and today we're hoping for the best as water has been hard to come by the last few days.

The landscape is again beautiful. We are hiking through mid size mountains which are all deep green with vegetation and life. We ascend and descend these mountains all day. Throughout the day we go up the side, we peak and then begin going down until the ridge of the mountain meets the next mountain, then ascend again the other mountain until we peak, round the corner and repeat the process. This becomes redundant quickly and I can’t help but be jealous of the crows who fly over head.

We completed the 19 miles by 6pm- we made it to Mary’s place. A quaint camping spot near the PCT that offered a pit toilet, another bucket shower stall, picnic tables and several spots to set up camp. Mary is a literary buff, the camping area was full of quotes from John Muir, Walt Whitman and Henry David Thoreau.

We have 7 miles to hike tomorrow, then it’s burger time at Paradise Valley Cafe!
