PCT Day 95 - Breakfast Buffet for the Climb

The breakfast buffet at the lodge was fantastic. I’m so glad we ended up splurging on the food. After the breakfast pastries, yogurt, fruit, eggs and sausage, waffles, and smoothies, we did our re-supply (thanks Jan! xx). We packed up and headed out after grabbing one more beer at The Rams Head Bar.

The hike out was so busy with day hikers, and it was up-and-down to the max. The view points offered beautiful views of Mt. Hood and it’s many waterfalls on the west and north side.

The last climb was 1,700’ over 3 miles- that’s a very intense end to our day. But I give credit to the massive breakfast for my energy to power up the mountain. We made amazing time, over 3mph straight up.

We camped just after sunset, getting in a bit later than usual, (but we also had a later start today) in a hidden tent site surrounded by lots of brush. Joe and I were both thinking “bear country”, and sure enough we heard a bear the next morning. Joe has just started mixing our breakfast when we hear a massive thundering through the brush to our left. We suspect it was eating berries bear trail until it heard us and bounded away as frightened of us as we of it.
